Human Rights' Day

It is important for children to be aware and have knowledge of their rights. This enables children to recognize and report abuse, neglect, or exploitation. This awareness can help protect children from harm and ensure they receive the support and assistance they need.

On 21 March 2024 we celebrated Human Rights Day at Butterfly House and the aim was to make children aware of their rights and what they should do if these rights are being violated. We were privileged to have three amazing guest speakers that facilitated interactive sessions with our children. Fallon Taff, a lawyer who runs her own legal firm, spoke to the children about their basic rights. Clinton Maseti, Regional Magistrate in Paarl then explained to the children what they should do and where they should seek help, if these rights are being violated. Patrick Ross, retired Regional Magistrate did a self-defense demonstration. The day was a huge success and the children really enjoyed it. Thank you Fallon Taff, Clinton Maseti and Patrick Ross for contributing to our children’s care and well-being.

We appreciate you!
